Dearly beloved friends:
I send you, on this occasion, an interesting engraving that, given the profundity it contains, we have entitled it as…
…THE MYSTERY OF THE MOST HOLY TRINITY
The creator of this artistic piece was called Jacques Granthomme, he lived between 1588 and 1622 and was born in Douai. It was published first in Paris and later in Heidelberg.
To us Gnostics this engraving has a transcendental importance, because it allows us to understand what for the Catholic and Orthodox churches was qualified as a dogma of faith. Unquestionably, these failed churches, having separated themselves from the Kabbalah and primordial Christian esotericism, were converted into a religious-mysticoid skeleton that is not capable of understanding the true nature of the BEING.
Here we are shown the BEING ─God─ divided into two other parts: THE SON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT. Thanks to the Gnostic Kabbalah we can understand that the BEING ─God in us─ is multiple and, metaphorically speaking, we could say that it is like an army of children. Such an army we would say is made up of forty-nine autonomous and self-conscious parts, and each one of them has certain transcendent and transcendental functions in our animic journey when we yearn for the integration with our inner reality.
It is important, first of all, to know that the three faces of God directly allude to the THREE PRIMARY FORCES OF CREATION, without which it would be impossible for anything to crystallize.
Subsequently, in the four corners of this image appear the representation of the four elements, indicated by a lion ─symbol of fire─, followed by an angel ─which allegorizes water─, then we can see a winged bull ─symbol of the element earth─ to finish observing an eagle ─representative of the element air─. It is needless to emphasize that these four symbolic animals are the signs of the four evangelists present in the New Testament, namely: John ─representative of water─, Mark ─who allegorizes fire─, Matthew ─who represents the earth─ and Luke ─ who indicates the element of air─.
Gnostically speaking, we must say that, esoterically, it is not about showing the material elements as we know them, but that each of them is a raw material with which we must elaborate our Philosopher’s Stone. Thus, therefore, we see Matthew, who in that case points toward our Philosophical Earth ─our physical body─, Luke indicative of the air we breathe, John as a living icon of our mercurial waters and Mark alluding to our philosophical sulfur or erotic fire …
Then we find some sentences written in Latin that tell us:
PATER NON EST FILIVS. Translation: ‘The Father is not the Son’.
PATER EST DEUS, FILIVS EST DEVS. Translation: ‘The Father is God’, ‘The Son is God’.
And at the lower part of the engraving we are shown, in an encrypted way, the sentence:
SPVS-SCTVS EST DEUS. Translation: ‘The Holy Spirit is God’.
When it is said PATER NON EST FILIVS ─translation: ‘The Father is not the Son’─, we must understand, on the other hand, that certainly the Kether or Divine Monad is the First Logos; on the other hand, the Christ ─the FILIVS─ is the Second Logos ─Chokmah─. However, when the Apostles asked Jesus: “When will we see the Father of whom you speak to us?”, then he answered them: “He who has seen the Son has seen the Father”…, because deep down they are part of the Logoic Triangle of the Hebrew Kabbalah.
In addition, without a doubt, the Holy Spirit is our mediator with all the autonomous parts of our BEING, for He is the regenerating, purifying and redeeming fire of us all. This fire remained represented for posterity in the word INRI, a word that has been taken by the Catholic clergy to mean only Iesvs Nazarenvs Rex Ivdaeorvm, ’Jesus of Nazareth, king of the Jews’ with the purpose of wanting to demonstrate that the V.M. Aberamentho, despite having been crucified, resurrected and became forever the king of the Jews.
However, for the occultism of profound roots this phrase has several meanings and among them Igni Natvra Renovatur Integra, ‘Fire renews all of Nature’, referring to the alchemical fire that is capable of radically transforming us, creating a true soul for us and integrating us with our divine Spirit ─namely: the BEING─.
Thus, in this way, we can see that, during the Middle Ages and some centuries later, many painters and creators of engravings preserved, in secret, many Gnostic concepts that they tried to convey to the multitudes despite the brutal impositions of the dogmatic clergy and the threats of excommunication.
Finally, I send you some sentences for your reflection:
“God is the truth and it is up to us to discover it.”
John de Muller
“Suppress God and night will have been made in the human soul.”
Lamartine
“God is the Master and redressor of the wise.”
Fray Luis de Granada
“My friends, God is necessary to me because He is the only being who can love eternally.”
Dostoevsky
“Everything that shows God inside me strengthens me. Everything that shows Him outside of me weakens me.”
Emerson
DE PROFUNDIS.
