Dearest companions:
In this message I intend to send you some quotations by our beloved Guru, V.M. Samael Aun Weor, accompanied also by some others that I have poured into several of my works.
I have entitled all this…
…THE IMPORTANCE OF SANCTITY
Let us begin by saying that the concept of saint refers to the state of perfection that is achieved by means of the harmonious development of certain human possibilities. Sanctity is a part of the path to awaken the Consciousness.
1. Various quotes:
The Fifth Gospel volume 1 comments on the following:
Observe the life of the great Christian mystics. They were did not concerned about acquiring powers, they were only concerned about sanctity, about eliminating each one of their psychological defects, about dying in themselves, and as they were achieving it, multiple supranormal faculties were able to express in them. These were always known as “saints” and there are many of them of the most diverse origins, either from the East or from the West. Therefore, sanctity is the most important thing, my dear brothers. […]
Obviously, as long as psychological aggregates exist within us, underneath a pious look and a venerable face, there can be no sanctification.
The Fifth Gospel volume 2 says:
Whoever learns to live in “the fragrance of sanctity“, whoever knows how to walk on the path of true sanctity, can truly become a Superman, a potency with powers over fire, over air, over water and over earth.
The Fifth Gospel volume 4 adds:
The Apostles of Christ were poor, illiterate and humble fishermen, but they could receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit because of their perfect sanctity and chastity.
So the important thing is to awaken in the light. That is not possible through techniques. It [is possible] only through sanctity, by dissolving the Ego, reducing it to cosmic dust, whatever the cost.
In the Esoteric Treatise on Hermetic Astrology this text appears:
All these failures and hundreds of others reveal that true practical occultism and its terrible magical powers demand the most frightful sanctity, without which it is impossible to face the dangers of Alchemy and Magic.
The Message of Aquarius tells us:
There are 144,000 Christified saints. This means washing our feet in the waters of renunciation. This means supreme chastity, supreme sanctity, and supreme love for all the millions of beings who populate the world.
In Secret Notes of a Guru it is stated:
Kundalini rises on the basis of chastity, sanctity and intense pain. We, the members of the White Lodge never, never ever do we fornicate nor will we fornicate!, because we follow the path of perfect sanctity and chastity.
The Yellow Book comments:
Tread the path of perfect sanctity. […]
If the devotee truly resolves to correct his mistakes and tread the path of sanctity, he can ask the Divine Mother for forgiveness of his past karma and the Divine Mother forgives him.
In the work The Mysteries of Fire we are told:
Powers are flowers of the soul that sprout when we have sanctified ourselves. For every step we take in the development of the chakras, we must take a thousand steps in sanctity.
In the work Major Mysteries we read:
From the great wicked ones are born the great saints.
Between the Finite and the Infinite adds:
For speaking precisely about sanctity, the Master insists in several of his works on how important it is to perform, for example, the alchemical coitus with profound meaning, with a profound feeling of sanctity.
The Third Logos –the Holy Spirit– and the Divine Mother do not tolerate us turning the coitus into a perverse party for the Ego, it is not acceptable in the eyes of the Spirit. If there is no sanctity, then it is of no use.
This does not mean that we have to become chocolate saints [false saints] when it comes to working in the Forge of Vulcan, we are not talking about that, but it does mean that there needs to be a good heart, good feelings and good thoughts from one spouse to the other, and that this is perpetuated in our daily lives toward the spouse, toward our companions, our fellow men, etc.
Now, listen to me well, sanctity is a quality, a quality of the Spirit, it is grandiose, but sanctity should not be confused with the Intimate Self-Realization of the Being, which is something much higher than the eight virtues of the Kundalini and sanctity.
In the work Dialogues with my Soul we read:
Great ascetics of antiquity and many saints came to believe themselves to be the makers of their own sanctity, without realizing, unfortunately, that the authorship of this was at all times in the hands of the favors granted to them by the HOLY SPIRIT AND THE DIVINE MOTHER. For this reason, the V.M. Samael never wanted to be a SAINT, because what we call “saints” in the religions of today is a simple temporary state that at any moment, or in the next existence, can be lost in the blink of an eye. Those who are known as “SAINTS” HAVE NOT ELIMINATED THE PLURALIZED “I” IN THE FORTY-NINE LEVELS OF THEIR MIND, MUCH LESS HAVE THEY ELIMINATED THE FATEFUL BEAST WHOSE SATANIC NUMBER IS 666.
2. The term saint and its connotations:
The term saint is used in colloquial contexts to describe a supposed personal purity, even if in reality it is not “very saintly”. It is used figuratively, as in the qualifier “chocolate saints”. The word also denotes a status attained in the spiritual life, where great Christian mystics who focused on sanctity by eliminating psychological defects and the “death in themselves” were recognized as saints. The ambition to attain the faculties of the saints is mentioned in the context of people unwilling to undergo inner annihilation ─The Fifth Gospel, volume 1─.
In esoteric exposition, the term saint defines a degree of advancement in the inner work, establishing a progressive hierarchy that begins with the profane, continues with the saint, and culminates with the Master ─The Fifth Gospel, volume 1─.
A saint is one who is content to eliminate the psychological defects he possesses on the visible side of his psychological moon and, in doing so, he is beatified, which stops his progress. An individual can be a “saint” and still have “I's” of murder or prostitution in the hidden part of his psyche. The Ego itself may assume the appearance of a saint, and the crime may disguise itself as a saint. That is why in The Fifth Gospel volume 1 Master Samael tells us:
As far as I am concerned, I am not a saint nor am I interested in being a saint. Why am I not interested in being a saint? Because it would stop me in my esoteric progress. I know very well that, in the occult part of my psychological moon, there have to exist “I's” of ancient times, hidden in darkness −and undoubtedly, they exist−.
3. Several more definitions
Let us now make an incursion to really define the term sanctity:
The term sanctity refers to the goal pursued by the great Christian mystics, who focused on eliminating, in part, their psychological defects and “dying in themselves” to a point.
However, there are “paths that deviate from the central path with wonderful appearances of holiness”, which, despite their façade, lead to the abyss and the second death ─The Fifth Gospel volume 1─.
The term sanctification:
The term sanctification relates to the process of attaining a state of inner purity. There is an assumption that some people believe that sanctification is possible through the manifestation of good intentions. However, sanctification is considered unattainable as long as there are inner psychological aggregates, even if one has a pious appearance or a venerable face ─The Fifth Gospel volume 1─.
4. The path to sanctity and perfection:
To achieve perfection, it is necessary to eliminate everything imperfect that is carried inside. The path to absolute sanctity is the path that leads to the awakening of the Consciousness. The path to sanctity and sanctification is intimately linked to awakening and personal purity.
The requirements for total sanctity and absolute chastity include perseverance, tenacity, and rigorous discipline. Mysticism is food for purified souls and is a requirement for sanctity ─explanations from Messages for your Soul─.
5. Death and purification:
Sanctity is intimately linked to the death of the “I”, this being an indispensable condition. The objective is to eliminate the undesirable elements so that the Being can express itself. Mystical death leads to the total dissolution of the psychological “I”, which can disguise itself in the robe of sanctity. When the Ego dissolves, the Being emerges saturated with virtues.
In the work Axioms of the Kabbalah we can read: “Sanctification is impossible without conscious love.”
One objective on this path is to recover lost innocence, since innocence is a quality that accompanies sanctity ─explanations from the work Man, the Laws and the Absolute─.
Sanctification through Chastity:
Sanctity is directly related to perfect chastity, defined as “scientific chastity” which consists in the transmutation of sexual energies and not in the renunciation of sexuality. Absolute chastity is a requirement for the development of powers. Absolute sanctity and absolute chastity are the key to entering Nirvana.
6. Adjectival use and designation of the term saint:
The adjective saint is used in a variety of contexts, including references to people, attributes, and sacred places.
Designations of holy persons and entities in Samaelian Gnosis:
- The Catholic Church has used the term to designate certain beings who made a great sacrifice.
- The term saint is used to refer to sacred individuals, such as the Holy Lama, who was a reincarnation.
- “Holy Spirit” or “Holy Ghost”: Refers to the Third Force of the Logoic Triangle ─Binah─ and is alluded to as the great conciliator and revealer.
- “Holy Mother of God” ─Sancta Dei Genitrix in Latin─.
- “Holy Firm”: An appellation given to the intimate Christ, who is in charge of the psychological processes from the Second Mountain onwards.
- “Holy man”: In popular slang, this was the name given to the V.M. Samael Aun Weor, who cured diseases and delivered teachings in the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta.
- “Saints” such as John the Baptist and Saint Eulalia are considered Christified Masters and not simply “saints”.
- The inhabitants of the Sirian Sun are described as highly sanctified creatures.
I now give you some quotations for reflection:
“It is not with an idea that men are lifted up, but with a feeling.”
Hippolyte Taine
“Feeling is a delicate flower; to handle it is to wither it.”
Larra
“What you think belongs to everyone. Only what you feel is yours. If you want what you think to be yours, you have to feel it.”
Schiller
“Single purpose is the hallmark of success.”
Daniel Sanders
“In prosperity, moderate yourself; in adversity, resign yourself and always be prudent.”
Concepción Arenal
