The series consists of more than eight hundred reproductions of urban landscapes to which the German poet Daniel Meisner (1585-1625) and the publisher Eberhar Kieser (1583-1631) added a message and a symbolic image.

The title, as we have already said, is: CONSIDERA, QUID, CUI ET QUO, ‘Consider what [you say], to whom [you say it] and where [you are]’.

The Latin text at the bottom of the drawing reads: Perpendit sapiens, loquitor, bene, multa priusquám, Quid dicat, cui, quo tempore, quove loco, ‘The wise man carefully weighs many things before speaking: what he says, to whom, when and in what place.’

Esteemed readers, this engraving is emphasizing the urgent need to be vigilant in the use of our VERB, as our Patriarch, Samael Aun Weor, pointed out to us thousands of times.

We have already said it before and we reiterate it again: THE VERB AND SEX ARE TWO POLES OF THE SAME DAY. Those who have never taken care of the use of the word sooner or later involute, because the Lord of Perfections will never manifest Himself through a putrid throat or one plagued by impurities.

In the image of our engraving we can see three people in the process of engaging in a dialogue on the outskirts of a city or town.

Let us remember the words of the Apostle James: “Look also at the ships; although so large and carried by impetuous winds, they are governed with a very small rudder to where the one who governs them wants.” However, why are we not able to control that small muscle we call the TONGUE?

Likewise, we cannot ignore in these pages those phrases alluding to the fires that some words or speeches can unleash. It is enough to remember Mr. Adolf Hitler and the hecatomb he was able to create, not only in Germany but also throughout Europe, simply with his hate-filled speeches.

In contrast, we know of the existence of the DIVINE LANGUAGE spoken among the Adepts in the superior worlds of Consciousness. With that sacred language we could calm destructive volcanoes, stop storms, appease hurricanes, etc., etc., etc., as long as we have led a life apart from fornication.

The great Initiate Socrates always emphasized: “When you say something, make sure that it is true, useful and good for everyone.”

The V.M. Aberamentho became famous for having used the word to achieve the resurrection of LAZARUS; such expression was: TALITA CUMI. This became historic. Let us remember, likewise, the great lawgiver MOSES, who parted the waters of the Red Sea to procure the escape of the people of Initiates who followed him and who were fleeing from the hordes of a Pharaoh.

Our Guru himself gave us thousands of mantras to relate to the Elementals of Nature and the Geniuses of the elements –water, fire, air and earth─. All of Nature is permeated with sounds, some perceptible and others imperceptible; everything is enveloped by the vibrations of the UNIVERSAL SOUND…

The V.M. Fulcanelli tells us the following in his work THE DWELLINGS OF THE PHILOSOPHERS:

“This Word of God, which is the Verbum Dismissum of Trevisan and the Lost Word of the medieval Freemasons, points to the material secret of the Work, whose revelation constitutes the Gift of God, and about whose nature, common name, or use, all philosophers maintain an impenetrable silence.”

With the words of the Adept Fulcanelli, the need is emphasized to strive to one day incarnate the “Gift of God”, that is, the sacred word coming from the BEING Himself.

I add, patient reader, the words of our blessed Patriarch Samael Aun Weor, let us see:

“Your word must be the purest; vulgar words harm the brothers. We must speak in delicate, delightful language; each of our words must be one of harmony, it must be one of infinite peace, it must be one of ineffable joy.

Hurtful words, vulgar terms, scathing remarks, words with double meanings are harmful to the students. The student who is working with the Arcanum A.Z.F. must comprehend that the force of sexuality is a double-edged sword, that he can hurt others as well as himself.

The verb acts upon the creative forces, because sex and the verb are intimately correlated. The force of sex operates through the sexual organs and through the creative larynx, they are two polarities of the sex itself. Therefore, may your words be pure, my dear brothers, may your words be immaculate, full of harmony and peace.

When the word is arrhythmic, when the word is scathing, when the word is ironic, when the word is erotic or with a double meaning, then it modifies the creative energies, it transforms them into dark, tantric, horrible powers.

Never teach the Arcanum A.Z.F. using vulgar terms. When you speak of Sexual Magic, say “the Arcanum A.Z.F.”, that is all. The word “Arcanum A.Z.F.” is more veiled, isn’t it?, and it is better than saying “Sexual Magic”, it is less scandalous. It is preferable to say “the Arcanum A.Z.F.”, and when you teach that Arcanum, do it with modesty, leave vulgarity aside.

The Elohim, the Angels, the Prajapatis, the ineffable Beings all speak in a precious language, in a verb of ineffable light. No Master uses vulgar words.

Never speak against anyone, my dear brothers. To be saying that this-or-that little brother is a black magician, that so-and-so is a sorceress, that she is a witch, that what-is-his-name is up to no good do and undo, that is ridiculous! You must not concern yourselves with the life of others, brothers, you must not concern yourselves with others private lives. Let everyone live their life as they want. Live a pure and chaste life, for the Christ will come as a thief in the night… Eliminate the “I”, the Ego; eliminate it and you will see the light.”

I conclude by inviting you to reflect with the following quotations:

“Nothing is as difficult as knowing oneself.”
Thales of Miletus

“We are not allowed to know everything.”
Horace

“Nothing is loved unless it is known.”
Saint Augustine

“Whoever desires knowledge must strive to acquire it.”
Ruskin

“The knowledge of one’s own imperfection is a very great perfection.”
Fray Diego de Estella

VERBUM EST CODEX.
─’The word is law’─.

KWEN KHAN KHU

This engraving is part of a vast and famous series of drawings made for the book Thesaurus Philopoliticus (1623).
